He's over a thousand years old and an alien. In the classic series, it was pretty-well established that he thought of humans as cute and interesting maybe, but not attractive.
I really think Russel T. is bungling a lot with the new series... but I still continue to watch it for the awesome episodes contributed by other writers.

So what if he's an alien? He still feels those human emotions like grief, sadness, and anger, so why not love as well? I'm glad that we see another side to the doctor than just the lonely god wandering the universe. _________________ so suddenly the madness came

I'm mostly displeased with recent years, but it's still better than the early 60's and late 80's material. Hopefully Davies will move on, and someone who has more classic Who taste will come in. It's unfortunate that as serialized TV finally becomes popular in the US, Doctor Who goes episodic to get broader appeal.
I miss the deep smartness of the old writing, and the motivated villains, the overall themes of "the many for the many" and "greed is bad", great philosophical clashes that are lost in the era of "we can afford to make a bad guy evil for the sake of it!".
Er, and I finally got my hands on a classic prop from the 70s era to DIE for-a Sonic Screwdriver. I think I'd kill to protect it. Yeah, I really don't like Davies' handling of the series. It's like he's playing around with the idea of turning it into a soap opera half the time. Thank goodness for Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss... they're big classic who fans, and their writing is fantastic. The other new writers do a decent job, though. There are absolutely awesome episodes, like The Girl in the Fireplace, and there are episodes that people should be shot over, like Love and Monsters.

RTD did the story for Love And Monsters, and brought in a script doctor to finish it up (do all the dialouge, etc).
Girl In The Fireplace is, I think, one of the best episodes ever. Should have been longer. Heartbreaking. _________________ "It'll be dark by nightfall!"

Tennant just sat back and played it like a good actor should, but I'm starting to wonder if crap like this is really why Eccleston quit.

A joke about oral sex for a situation which the Doctor would NEVER allow to happen, in a manner that earlier in that same season was negated ("The screwdriver can't affect organic matter" or something like that), for someone the Doctor has no reason to do anything considerate for.
