I'm mostly down with alcohol and nicotine, with cannabis on occasion, and LSD for special moments. I can't come up with a good reason why I do them, except that I'm human and that life sucks under normal conditions. I used to be sXe.

Oh, my views are pretty much the same. I don't plan on ever doing drugs or getting drunk. I'd prefer to remain in control of myself at all times. As for others doing drugs, I really wish they wouldn't, 'cause I don't trust anyone who's not in control of themselves.
that and the reason many drug users seem to have:

oh c'mon, no it doesn't. If you're taking drugs for the high, at least be honest about it. _________________ Come into my den let me hear you cluck

Uh, but I was being honest. Doing it for the high is why people do drugs. The reason for which people want that high can differ, and my reason is that the universe is dumb. You can't tell me how I feel.

Caffeine, mostly. Probably I take too much of that, on average. Of course, to quote Ken Kendler, ". . . how we socially label what psychoactive substances are OK and which are not is an interesting economic, politically driven process. And right now caffeine seems to be at a high, where it's not even negative, it's a sign of one's sophistication." So, that's not really a drug. I also enjoy the alcohol from time to time. I'd probably do some of the more innocuous illicit drugs if it weren't for having to, you know, buy them. Tobacco has never really appealed to me. It's probably the cancer risk. Plus, I don't want to smell like shit all the time. _________________ Married to Terri.

I can critique how you feel though, and I think that's a stupid thing to say. You're politically active. You should know that there are probably at least a billion people on this planet worse off than you are. Do you feel bad because of them? Well your doing drugs won't help them, even if you're buying drugs exported from their countries. At the very least, you could donate that money to a charity that pledges to help them, and maybe you could feel good without poisoning yourself.
And if you feel bad because your dopplegangers are confirmed to be crusty, sorry. Just avoid being crusty yourself, and you'll be top of the line. _________________ Come into my den let me hear you cluck

I've decided that I don't want to smoke anything because of the health concerns, but given the opportunity to, say, have a brownie I'd do that. There is something attractive about smoking, at least initially, but the longer term effects are enough to turn me off to it.
I only have one cup of coffee or tea a day if I don't need to work on anything, oftentimes I'll go without. I'm on Concerta legally, and I don't take that everyday either, only when I have class, whatever. As for alcohol, I still have never been drunk (or even buzzed) but I'll have a glass of wine or a bottle of beer given the opportunity. Which is more than I could say of myself from a year ago.
I don't see the allure of getting trashed, though. _________________

I mostly do activism which is relevant to my local community because that affects the most immediate change, and I don't take substances which come from the international drug trade. Those billion people are probably doing drugs to ease the pain, too. Living in the first world automatically confers trouble to the third, regardless of anything I could ever do. That's something I've accepted.

no, I think most of them are saving their money for things they actually need, and are spending the time they'd spend wasted working at whatever jobs they can get to make whatever money they can get.
That or subsistence farming.
I also think taking drugs to feel good is the worst trick you can pull on yourself. _________________ Come into my den let me hear you cluck

out of curiosity, would you lump anti-depressants into the same category?
hmm, depends on who uses them. If you're clinically depressed and take them, then they should be fine. But if you're overdosing or aren't clinically depressed in the first place, then you're abusing them, and you're just tricking yourself.
After all, the goal of anti-dipressants are to make clinically depressed people feel normal, and that's a good goal. _________________ Come into my den let me hear you cluck

We're including alcohol in our list of drugs, right? Yeah, sorry, they're totally getting drunk. Maybe not all billion, but a lot of them. _________________ Married to Terri.

I think a billion is a small estimate on any planet that contains the former Soviet Union.
The Personal Information Waltz:
I enjoy going out and having drinks, but (strangely?) I almost never drink at home. If the place doesn't have any beer I like, I'm a gin man. Reefer sometimes, socially, maybe once a month or so. I quit acid a long time ago after I had a really nasty barf. Speed on the weekends if I can get it.
I've tried pretty much everything else, and found most of it to be a waste of my money... with the exception of horse tranquilizers, which were awesome, but incredibly dangerous and impossible to get unless you have a bro with a horse.
I also think that someone who's never had a single drink can possibly understand what it's like, in the same respect that no man can ever really know what it's like to give birth. I'm not saying "don't knock it until you've tried it", because that's always a stupid thing to think or say. Being committed to a drug-free life is fine (I would say "admirable", but that's debatable), but it doesn't give you any platform on which to judge others.

I drink regularly (on a gin kick lately- o/ troy), smoke pot at least a few times every month, and prefer cigars over cigarettes. don't really do anything outside of that, though after I get my Own Place and a way to bring in the dosh that's definite to change.
also, for Sneak's sake- I haven't gotten shitfaced drunk in a long time, not since last year. I don't enjoy it. also I'm kind of tight. _________________
