Haha, that's how I feel about Into The Wild.

I think Juno was really good... but probably not Oscar material. No Country For Old Men, though... if I had my druthers, it would sweep.

First of all, could somebody move this to Now Playing? It figures the first topic I start when I come back would be in the wrong place.

Second, I'd just like to say that I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that Atonement will win Best Picture. I honestly think No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood might be more deserving, but Atonement just seems like the movie to win. Then again, I was wrong about Babel last year.

Also, Superbad is just that.

I'm very glad to hear that. Completely putting aside my man-crush for Tim Burton, I think Sweeney Todd was easily the best movie I saw last year. It's like nothing I'd ever seen before, and the first movie to actually put me in a cold sweat.

The songs were really repetitive and boring, and Tim Burton's whole direction of the movie is largely derivative of the films of Dario Argento. It wasn't interesting to watch.

(Oh, and I'm split between No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood, btw.)

If the Oscars had separate genre categories like the Emmy's do then it wouldn't have been a problem for either to get nominated and win. Cera would have totally gotten a nomination had that been the case.

That about explains my feelings on Sweeny Todd.

I didn't watch all of Superbad, but I did watch some of the key clips, like the mclovin and the ID scene and some others and seriously, how the fuck do you guys laugh at this shit.

I mean I hope there were some actually funny clips because fuck, Michael Cera is talented as anything and he shouldn't be in shit like that and Juno.

The scene where they're discussing McLovin's ID wasn't that funny anyway. One of my favorites has to be when Seth has those dream sequences in the grocery store. I loved how Charlie Hartsock was in it too. He did a great job in Arrested Development as Ted.
