Sony can keep their crappy blu-ray and probable DRM; Nintendo can keep their crappy controller and lack of HD output; MS can keep their crappy overheating power supplies and standard DVD games. I'm just gonna use my computer.
It sure is a crappy controller. I mean, I know that was my conclusion when I magically knew exactly what it was like months before it came out.
It's fine if you prefer your PC, but don't just bash random things. So far as I can tell, the controller has a frightening amount of potential and will only suck if Nintendo drops the ball on it (which I'm pretty sure [read: hoping very much] that they won't]). Also, HD isn't THAT big of a deal.
...I'm too technology-stupid to rebut the things you said about the other two systems.
HD output is a big deal to some people, including me(and even more by the time the console is out...). Nintendo is trying to downplay HD support, just like they tried to say online play/content didn't matter when they released the GC, simply because their console had the weakest support for it(PS2 was weak here too, but GC...damn). And it turned out they were VERY VERY WRONG. I'm not afraid to say I think they're VERY VERY WRONG about HD support as well. Also, I'm thinking Nintendo is really gonna drop the ball on the controller. Congrats, you reinvented the light gun(refer to only screen shots of revolution available).
I don't really care which consoles succeed. I'm just stating what flaws are obvious(yes, blu-ray is a flaw, shame on you sony) in each of them. Go ahead and point out flaws in computer gaming, there are plenty. It all comes down to software, and PCs really have the edge in the type of game I usually play. Also, a lot of the types of games I don't usually play are also more available on PC. And of course, many console games are also available on PC, so that's a plus.
In conclusion, I would just like to say "hd 4 lyfe". Yes, it is a big deal. _________________

Wait, what's so bad about blu-ray?
Other than it being really... really expensive?
Well, there's the part where it's really really expensive. And then there's the part where HD-DVD is better anyway. Then there's the part where Sony helped in developing it. This usually means it will always be 1.) expensive, even after the price for parts has gone down 2.) offer no advantages, or even be inferior to, competing products 3.) doomed to failure.
Sony killed: Betamax(which killed that technology), MiniDisc, MagicGate Memory Stick, Universal Media Disc. Using just their lack of sense, Sony has managed to create and kill four different formats! Why did they die? Bad marketing for Betamax, MD, and UMD. Horrible product for Memory Sticks. Why would blu-ray have any reason to succeed over the HD-DVD standard, which, due to the non-involvement of Sony and the way the discs are made, will be much cheaper than blu-ray? _________________

well, Sony created MiniDisc and UMD to be proprietary formats, 'cause Sony clings furiously to its proprietarity even more than Apple does. _________________ Come into my den let me hear you cluck

All of those were Sony proprietary formats, in case you didn't catch on... Luckily for blu-ray, blu-ray won't be. And yet, there's already a better standard. But also unfortunatly for blu-ray, the blu-ray consortium put Sony in charge of licensing. _________________

The official name of the product is just Memory Stick, I added MagicGate to show that I didn't mean MMC cards or USB sticks in general. _________________

oh, ok... then Memory Stick isn't... other companies have manufactured Memory Sticks, and there are readers for them.
EDIT: Yeah, I know Sony has strict agreements with those other companies, but what I meant was that MS isn't as closely guarded as UMD and Minidisc are. _________________ Come into my den let me hear you cluck

Whenever you buy one, Sony gets part of the profits. That's called licensing. It was done with Betamax, too. It was offered for MD, but I'm not sure if anybody took up Sony on that offer. As for UMD, I'm not sure if Sony allowed anybody else to manufacture them, but I imagine they would for the right licensing fee. _________________

The DS is outselling the PSP. Why? The Gameboy, the Gameboy Advance, Nintendo fanboys, and you can touch it.
Fixed.
Maybe I haven't been keeping up with the DS games, but weren't most of the games they made for it basically "OMG YOU CAN TOUCH IT" and not much else?
And yeah, I'll admit the PSP game selection is pretty bad. GTA and MMK are really the only games worth it, in my opinion. Other people may include Lumines in that category. _________________ Come into my den let me hear you cluck
