well ladies and ladels I think it's high time we just have a walloping good thread where you talk any damn food you wish
the initial idea was Indian food only - however I knew that would only cause troubles, because what if someone wants to talk about Nepalese cuisine for example, where do they go, there is no use for a separate thread and they would cry and want to die if they discussed it alone in the Indian food thread.
so yes this is all foods here
anyway I'll start off - what is your ideal Indian meal, anyway?
gotta say I go for the vegetarian option all the time: main thing is the dal - a good dal makhani is probably the nicest thing anyone could eat. to go with are sides of palak paneer, aloo gobi, cheese naan and maybe some sambar. ice tea or a crunchy Kingfisher to go with it. _________________

I, unfortunately, have never had real Indian food. The eateries around me aren't exactly what you'd call diverse. I'll probably be able to try some next year, hopefully with someone who knows what they're talking about to guide me in food-choices.

Sorry to all the vegans in the room, but when I go to an indian restaraunt, I get lamb just about every time. |

I haven't been to any Indian restaurants either, but I imagine I'd get lamb... after all, I'd imagine they wouldn't serve any beef. _________________ Come into my den let me hear you cluck

Palak paneer is awesome, and so is that red bean and spicy tomato thing - I don't know what it's called.
Oh man, I had chicken masala once at some restaurant down the street, but I thought it was kinda weird and too soupy. Did I just go to a crappy restaurant, or is it always that soupy? |

I'm never quite particular about vegetarian Indian cuisine. Hell, I'm down with just eating naan. |

yeah actually you're onto something, basically most of the vegetarian stuff at Indian restaurants is great.

No, they do, I think you'll find the majority of Indian restaurants (at least the ones I've been to) are run by Sikh, rather than Hindus. _________________

Huh. I thought sikhism was really strict about not harming any animal life. Maybe I'm confusing it with something else. |

I didn't Google it very hard but I can't find anything that says a Sikh doesn't eat meat.
Like I said I may be wrong but I have definitely had beef at an Indian restaurant. _________________

I remember hearing that most sikhs would take precautions such as wearing cloth over their mouths to keep from hurting any life. |

I've never liked lamb, even when I was eating meat. I think the best individual dish I've ever had was the butter chicken from a local place in Farmington Hills. I'm also fond of palak paneer, vegetable pakora, and for dessert I absolutely love a really good, authentic rice pudding.
I am so glad that my new place is not only a five minute walk to an Indian restaurant, but a ten minute walk to an Ethiopian restaurant. Though, everyone says the Indian place isn't that good... it's much better than the packaged meals I find myself buying all the time... at least until I learn to cook Indian dishes from scratch. _________________ here comes the big ideas again, just like they did before and then,

I went to school with a Sikh dude, he was younger than me and as such not really my friend but I don't recall him ever masking up just to avoid giving anyone germs. _________________
