Actually, I'm quite fascinated by teeth and you couldn't pay me to become a dentist.

you silly anthropologist, you.

but yeah, dentistry strikes me as boring.
there's plenty more in terms of the health care field than dentists and doctors.
optometrists are pretty bangin'. or you could be like, a nurse.

being an optometrist would be hella boring compared to dentistry

at least with dentistry you use painful utensils and you can feel like a stone cold dude

dude the inside of eyes are insanely awesome lookin'
and there's even more sick technology
and prettier pictures, ads, an element of fashion

and i mean at least people won't hate you as much

my optometrist liked me and knew i was into science and showed me bunches of cool shit when i was little, like computer images from my mom's visual tests, these really close up pictures of like, pupils and stuff.

I'm going to St. John's College in Fall. Majoring in Liberal Arts, the only major they off. Only 500 people go to the school. Je suis tres enthousiaste.

I can totally see Zach at college hooking up with, like, all of the girls at that school.

Maybe I spend too much of my life thinking about nothing but science, but I don't even understand the St. John's curriculum at all. I probably just don't fully appreciate everything about that school, but why would there be a college where you can only major in nothing, decide nothing for yourself, and, outside of classic literature, only read old science papers that serve little purpose today? Well, I suppose they are probably really interesting and are really important for a historical perspective, but they don't exactly teach you science.

I dunno, it just seems weird to not give yourself an opportunity to make your own decisions and specialize in something in undergrad, or prepare yourself for graduate school. I mean... in real life, graduate schools have certain prerequisites and appreciate it when you have found something you seriously care about. And, well, it just seems like it would be incredibly hard to find something to care about when you can't decide what to take for yourself, or even take in-depth courses in a single field. I realize that not everyone wants to go to graduate school, but it seems like most of the people who go to a school whose specialty is straight-up learning for the sake of learning, would be interested in going. And plus, I'm not sure what you can do that would actually use a Liberal Arts degree, without some sort of graduate training.

I'm not trying to be an ass or convince you to do anything, and I'm sorry if it seems that way. I am just seriously passionate about education, and I just have a hard time grasping the value of such a program, outside of a 4 year thought experiment (which might be worth it by itself, I'll admit that). I am all for learning for the sake of learning, but maybe I am just really old and jaded (pretty sure on that one), and have the experience of being super poor, trying to paying bills, loans and all of that real life bullshit, but man... I don't get it.

I wish you tons of luck, though. College was definitely the best time ever.
