It wasn't bad, but it was a little disappointing. It could have been much better. I mean, they really shouldn't have attempted three villains at once. Venom looked kind of fake and wasn't nearly as muscular and bulky as he was in the comics. I did like what they did with Sandman though. They gave him a little bit more tragic backstory. Other than the corny acting, it was a decent action flick. The jazz number was cool...

MAYBE MINOR SPOILERS!!!1

My two favorite (read: worst) parts were when he is swinging over the crowd, and then lands in front of an American flag (it made me Nevar Ferget ) and when they had the cells on the screen of his chemist/biologist friend/teacher, and the black cell just rams the other ones.

Anyways, the movie was aight. I'll give it a 2 out of 5, but that may be because of the horribly fucking annoying family behind us. Sample quote:

Kid: I need to puke.
Mom: Just do it right here.

Devastated.

I went to see it on impulse, pretty much. I met a bunch of friends on the way to dinner and they were like "we're going to see Spiderman, have another seat in the car, wanna come?" and I was like "yeah, fuck work, I'm going to come!" and so I went.

I went out on the town earlier in the day and heard from various people it was terrible. Of course, my one friend from back home was raving about it... but he's kind of fucked up with his pop culture choices. I thought it was the most hilarious thing I've seen in a long time. My friend Erik and I were sitting next to each other and laughing through out the entire thing. It was so ridiculous. Everything was so over the top. The only well-done scene in there was when Harry and MJ were in the kitchen cooking the omelette. That was sweet. We were probably the ones laughing the hardest in the entire theater. My god, I needed that. I just hope that it was intentionally hilarious and that wasn't by accident. When we got back Erik was distraught and couldn't believe that was the real movie. Y'know, I would be too, if I knew more about the Spiderman universe. This was my introduction to it and I know that the rest of it is way better.

My favorite part of the movie was probably when Peter gets his emo hair. It really looked like he was wearing eyeliner... was he?

Oh yeah, after he err, defeated the Sandman and pulled his hair down, everyone in the top three rows including me just started cracking up. Toby McGuire kind of makes a good emo kid. He had the whole ensamble (hope that's how you spell it).

I actually liked the Sandman. When he's first introduced as he actually sandy guy, it looked really cool.

Spoilers alert, if you care.

I've got conflicting feelings. From the movie standpoint:
-This movie had too much going on. 3 villains is way too much.
-Too many plot holes. If you went to your chemistry teacher and gave him a sentient alien being, don't you think he'd ask you where you got it from?
-Unsatisfying ending. Venom was cool, the new goblin was cool, but you feel a real cliffhanger going on. What's Sandman going to do to save his daughter now?

As a comic book fan:
-3 awesome villains
-Peter's awesome internal conflict.
-Great fight scenes
-Cliffhanger
-Venom might bring in Carnage later in the series

Critic score: 6/10
Comic book fan score: 9.25/10
