Forget what you know about the drugs. It is just going to suck, period.
Here's the thing about anesthetics. If you don't have anything to eat before you have them, you are guaranteed to vomit. You're not allowed to eat anything the day before you have your wisdom teeth pulled. That is a shitty Catch22 and I promise you will be throwing up blood and dinner.
I was writhing in pain for a week, bleeding all over the place, crying, swearing, moaning, not eating, not talking, just drinking water and moping. Trust me dude. You are about to enter hell. When you're done with all this, you are going to value life so much it's ridiculous.
I know this seems out of the blue, but I feel pretty strongly about this. Fuck wisdom teeth. _________________

To be honest, I sort of enjoyed the whole process around getting my wisdom teeth pulled. I got them pulled during a week I had off from school in the autumn of 2005. I had made an hour long playlist of songs all about love and emotion, and had my iPod on before, during, and after the procedure. I remember listening to the first couple songs before the drugs kicked in putting me to sleep, it I must have been lost in the music, because it seemed instantaneous that I woke back up listening to a song that was still early in my playlist, when in reality it had looped around. After I had gotten out of the chair to go home, all I could feel was a big ball of numbness where my mouth was. I came home and had a couple milkshakes before falling asleep. My mom would wake me up every hour or so so I could take some drugs. My regimen was Phenergan followed by Vicodin an hour later. The downside of the first day is that you have to keep gauze in your mouth, because although you can't feel it, your mouth is like constantly bleeding. By the end of the first day I was able to take the gauze out and fall sleep for a lengthy period of time (with my head propped up.) I've never been a fan of recreational drugs, but with a medical purpose for taking them, they were an interesting, almost enjoyable experience. All I really know of their effects is they made me feel lazy all the time, and made time pass really quickly. I spent the entire day listening to the same playlist I mentioned before, and looking up album artwork for my iTunes library. I might also reccommend watching a movie with great visual style, but very little action. (Special reccommendation: the Icelandic movie Nói albÃnói) Those couple days after the operation are really a blur in my memory... a lot of sleep, and laziness, and music. I tried looking through my journals for the tracklist to the playlist I was listening to, but was unable to find it. I do remember one song in particular, and if you take anything from this comment, take my reccommendation that you listen to this song during your post-operation drugged-up state: "consequence" by the Notwist. I specifically recall a time during my drug-addled haze where I briefly fell asleep listening to this song on repeat, and woke up to this one "breakdown"-ish part towards the end, and it was a wonderful memory to look back on.
Another thing about this period of time, is I was just reaching a point where my "internet relationships" were wearing my emotions thin, and the next week when I got back to school, Alicia joined my class, and, well, the rest of that story is history. _________________ here comes the big ideas again, just like they did before and then,

Not as bad as Efun says. Not as fun as Ray says. The one doctor guy was Asian, and I can't really remember if it was actually funny or whether it was the drugs, but he was like "i put da sticka on yoooou" when he put the monitors on my heart and stuff. I lol'd hard. |

Wow.
I got mine pulled two weeks ago and it took like 20 or 15 minutes. Just one guy. And he didn't put me to sleep or put monitors in my heart. Just two shots in the palate, and one for each wisdom tooth. Then he took them out and gave me stitches on my bottom ones. It didn't hurt at all. And all ate the next day was ice cream. All it did was bother me for like four days. Then it was all back to normal and on the sixth day I got my stitches taken out. _________________
